The above video is a documentary about all the different aspects of the McCarthary hearings and everything that went into making the hearings so wide spread in the culture of the United States. I found it very interesting that this occured right around the time when televisions became more commmon so the average household could watch the hearings on tv. While I don't agree with how McCarthary went about dealing with the problem of communists in the government, I believe it had to be done somehow and didn't need to include people from Hollywood. Overall, this video was very interesting and taught me a lot I didn't already know about the hearings.

The Stupidity of the Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials were nothing more than a catch-22 for the people involved in it. If someone didn't name another person or admit that they practiced witchcraft they were punished for practicing witchcraft, but if they just confessed when they actually weren't practicing witchcraft they were allowed to live. The fact of innocent until proven guilty would of been a great thing to have for the people that were being punished even though they weren't guilty because it could have saved their lives. Also the fact that the girls were just naming names to not get in trouble for the dances that they were doing in the woods was a little ridiculous because they could name anyone they didn't like and they would be put on trial as a witch.
